About

The Irish War of Independence (1919–1921) in Wexford, as elsewhere in Ireland, was a pivotal point in its History. Following on from the Easter Rising the Irish Republican Army (I.R.A) reorganised within the county, carrying out various raids, ambushes, burning of police barracks and other activities throughout. This project proposes to trace those activities using an archaeological approach; documenting and recording the physical archaeological remains of the conflict. The project is being undertaken by Archaeologist Barry Lacey.
